Coach Farkas first discovered a love for football when he began playing Pee Wee at age 8. He went on to play football at the high school, college, and professional levels. He then found a calling as a high school coach for more than 20 years, including recent time in Central Florida at Lakeland, Osceola, and Apopka. When his health prevented him from keeping up with the demands of coaching football, he found a home at Wekiva as an assistant baseball coach, helping to build a program that would amass the best overall record and only perfect home season record in Wekiva Baseball history.
As he battled through his cancer diagnosis, Coach Farkas was a model of courage, integrity, and tenacity on and off the field. As he was fond of reminding his players, "Be present; Be on time; Be prepared; Be respectful; Try!"
On behalf of our entire Mustang Family, we extend our condolences to Coach Farkas's family, colleagues, and the many athletes who carry his legacy.
